The group takes doctoral and master's students, and welcomes postdoctoral researchers and collaborators working on catalysis for sustainable materials.
Who we look for
A background in inorganic, organometallic or polymer chemistry is the usual starting point. Beyond that, what matters is a willingness to do careful, air-sensitive synthetic work and to follow a result until it is properly understood.
What you would work on
- Ligand design and synthesis of main-group and transition-metal complexes
- Ring-opening polymerization of lactides and cyclic esters, with stereocontrol
- Ring-opening copolymerization of epoxides with CO2 and anhydrides
- Metal-free and organocatalytic routes to polyesters
- Polymer characterization and process development

Admission to doctoral programs at IIT Madras is administered by the Institute, and formal application runs through the Department of Chemistry admissions process in addition to contacting the group.
